Tastee is set to open a new patty outlet on Mannings Hill Road, heating up competition in the Constant Spring Area of St Andrew.
The new franchise will be located inside the Midway Mall, which is at the entrance to Cassava Piece. It should open before the end of summer, says the patty giant, which already has more than 30 outlets across the island
It represents the third patty operation to open in the Constant Spring Area in less than two years. Tastee rival Juici late last year opened a restaurant next door to the Tax Department on Constant Spring Road, while Sugar and Spice, which is owned by the brother of Tastee owner Vincent Chang, opened an outlet near the Queen's High School on the same road in August 2011. What's more is that there is another Sugar and Spice bakery in Upper Manor Park Plaza, also in the area.
Meanwhile, Tastee has also launched a first-of-its-kind patty mobile unit in Jamaica. It launched the unit at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex on Saturday during the Tastee/KSAFA Under-17 dootball semi-finals.
The fully operational Unit can provide the entire Tastee menu, including chicken, nuggets, patties and sides. The Patty Xpress, as it is called, will be at the Under-17 finals on June 14, 2013 and in Ocho Rios for the Tastee Talent Trail Road Show and Fun day, the company said.
It is a strategic move by Tastee to reach its customers in a competitive environment. Tastee Group COO Ryan Foster noted that the company believes in being innovative while providing to the needs of its customers.
"The Tastee Mobile Canteen is one such way of catering to our customers wherever they are in Jamaica. It is the first of its kind among the patty companies and is the first of many to come throughout Jamaica. The Mobile unit is a Patty express similar to a grab and go concept and will be strategically placed throughout Jamaica," Foster said.
Jamal Tugman, Tastee's Public Relations Officer, mentioned that it is the love for the Tastee patty that continually drives the company to make the customer experience a better one.
"Tastee believes in expanding and meeting the demands of our customers, while we sponsor events and donate to different groups and organizations- we are also looking at better ways to serve our customers and how to make the Tastee dining experience an enjoyable one," he said.
He pointed out that Tastee is now looking at investing in several areas while still maintaining its corporate citizenship profile and appetite of giving back.
